With over 30 years of experience working as an internal medicine physician, Dr. Syed Shah is the sole independent internist in Sioux Falls, SD, and brings a wealth of experience to his private practice.

Dr. Shah's journey in medicine began with academic excellence. He graduated in the top 2% of his medical school class and completed his residency at the prestigious New York Medical College. He is board-certified in Internal Medicine, a Fellow of the American College of Physicians (FACP), a certified MRO, and holds licenses to practice in South Dakota, Texas, and Iowa, reflecting his commitment to serving diverse communities with the highest standards of care.

Alongside founding and working at Shah Medical Clinic, he currently serves as the Medical Director of Urgent Care, Medical Director of Encompass Inpatient Rehab Hospital, and the Chief Hospitalist at Sioux Falls Specialty Hospital. His dedication to knowledge is exemplified through his tenure as a Clinical Associate Professor of Medicine at USD’s School of Medicine since 2017, as well as his efforts as a published researcher.

Dr. Shah is happily married to Dr. Mussarat Ashraf, who serves as the Clinic’s manager. The two have three beautiful children together. Komal, Dr. Shah’s oldest daughter, lives in Washington, DC, with her family, while Maham, his youngest daughter, is currently attending Law School in Texas. His youngest son, Saif, attends university in Texas and can often be found helping out at the clinic as he hopes to follow in his parents’ footsteps and become a physician himself.
